Yiwu is a commercial city with boundless business opportunities, maintaining stable trade relations with 219 countries and regions worldwide. It is hailed as the world's largest small commodity wholesale market by authoritative institutions such as the United Nations and the World Bank. Each year, over 10 million domestic and overseas buyers visit Yiwu for procurement, with 13,000 foreign merchants residing there.

In July 2018, Yiwu was designated as a new batch of comprehensive pilot areas for cross-border e-commerce, continuously promoting opening up and facilitating the transformation and upgrading of foreign trade. Starting from Yiwu, the China-Europe freight train service, known as "Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe," opened nine transportation routes to Madrid, London, Prague, and other cities, covering 35 countries. This has opened up a convenient and fast railway logistics corridor for goods from the "Belt and Road" countries to enter China.

Yiwu boasts the fourth port airport in Zhejiang Province open to the outside world, with over 40 domestic and international routes in operation. Meanwhile, it is actively participating in the construction of the Ningbo-Zhoushan-Dongtou Corridor. The convenient and efficient transportation system provides vital support for export trade.

Yiwu has opened 136 logistics routes, providing direct access to over 250 major and medium-sized cities in China, boasting the lowest comprehensive logistics costs in the country. With the strong advocacy and support of the government, Yiwu has witnessed rapid development in domestic e-commerce, cross-border e-commerce, internet celebrity live streaming, supply chain, and other fields, playing a significant role in both domestic sales and foreign trade.
